Cosworth (Northampton)

A leading high-performance engine manufacturer, renowned for delivering precision components into elite automotive and motorsport programmes, is looking to recruit an experienced 5-Axis CNC Setter Operator. Working within a state-of-the-art machining environment, you’ll play a key role in producing complex powertrain components used in next-generation performance engines.

The Role
As a 5-Axis Setter Operator, you’ll set and operate multi-axis CNC machining centres to produce engine components to ultra-tight tolerances. You’ll be part of a high-skill machining team where quality, accuracy, and reliability are essential to meeting demanding engineering and motorsport timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate 5-Axis CNC machining centres to produce precision engine components.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and follow machining instructions accurately.
  • Identify tooling or programme issues, making basic edits/corrections to maintain quality.
  • Work safely, maintain a clean work area, and contribute to continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong experience setting and operating 5-Axis CNC machines (DMG Mori, Fanuc or Heidenhain experience beneficial).
  • Solid understanding of machining fundamentals: tooling, work-holding, cutting parameters and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to spot and resolve issues within NC code and machining processes.
  • Background in precision engineering, ideally within high-performance automotive, motorsport, or engine component manufacturing.

This role is at the forefront of manufacturing high end components for some lucrative companies working a double day shift.

On offer is a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package.
